Chapter 8: Headrests and Seatbelts
In this chapter, you make and install the shoulder
supports, rear heat duct, seatbelt hard points with
aluminum seatbelt attach points, and the canopy
hinges. This chapter goes very quickly if you work
on it everyday. In fact, it went by so quickly, that I
didn't take the time to take individual shots of the
step by step construction of the heat duct (
or
anything else for that matter
). To the right is the
heat duct already floxed and taped into position
before the reinforcing lay ups were complete. I'm still
considering the headrests. I'm leaning toward
automotive type headrests and beefing up the roll
over protection in the turtleback, but in the
meantime, I'll make the plans style with just a little
different shape at the top. I just don't like the looks
of those pointy triangles.
In this shot, you can see the canopy hinges floxed
in place and bolted to the upper longerons. I was
very careful to get them in perfect alignment.
They look great!
This is a not so good picture of the pilot seatbelt
attachment completed.
Rear seatbelt attachment installed.
As I stated earlier, Chapter 8 went by so quickly that I
didn't think to take pictures as often as I should have. I'll
try to do better in the future. In the meantime, here is a
photo of the shoulder support after installation.
