Sun 5/7/00 7 Made the NACA scoop template. Traced the outline on the fuselage bottom. Cut the 2" and 1" Urethane blocks. 2
Tue 5/9/00 7 Cut scoop shape in 1" and 2" blocks. Made paper templates for plywood pieces A and B. Cleaned up peel ply and tapes in landing gear bulkhead area. 1
Wed 5/10/00 7 Cut out the plywood pieces A, B, and C. Spent much of the time figuring out the best way to fit them. Receieved structs from FeatherLite. 1
Thu 5/11/00 7 Cut bevels in all the plywood pieces. 1
Sat 5/13/00 7 Microed the NACA scoop foam to the fuselage bottom and applied several weights. Floxed plywood pieces A, B, and C into place. Added 1" urethane foam to outside of each plywood piece. Floxed plywood piece D into place. 5
Sun 5/14/00 7 Sanded the NACA scoop foam to shape. Added the 3/8" PVC foam to the scoop between the firewall and aft landing gear bulkhead. Did the 2 ply BID layup on plywood piece D. Added the 2" urethane foam on top of the layup. Made the 1/8" x 3/4" lip around the forward landing gear bulkhead. Made the holes for the aluminum mounts. 6
Mon 5/15/00 7 Made the 1/8" x 3/4" lip around the aft landing gear bulkhead. Made the holes for the aluminum mounts. Began contouring the sides. Tapered the left side to conform to the firewall. 3
Wed 5/17/00 7 Tapered the right side to conform to the firewall. Began cutting the 45° corner on the right side. Began rounding the aft, right corner. 3
Sat 5/20/00 7 Contoured the right, bottom edge of the fuselage and began on the left, bottom edge. 3
Sun 5/21/00 7 Continued contouring left, bottom edge. 1
Tue 5/23/00 7 Finished shaping left, bottom edge. 1
Wed 5/31/00 7 Touched up some of the contouring. Made the 1/16" lip around the landing brake. Make the 1/16" lip at F-22 along the bottom and corners. 3
Sat 6/3/00 7 Made step reinforcement from birch plywood. Made foam patches for gaps in corners on aft portion of fuselage. Patched foam damage on bottom near F-22. Applied duct tape around landing brake. Finished cutting all the aluminum mounts for the landing gear bulkheads. 5
Sun 6/4/00 7 Floxed the wood step reinforcement into place. Microed the hole patch. Microed foam into the corner gaps. Floxed all the aluminum mounts into place. Routed the channel for the marker beacon antenna. Fixed the void under the NACA scoop. 4
Tue 6/6/00 7 Sanded to shape all the patches I put in place. Cleaned the workshop - way over due. 1
Wed 6/7/00 7 Added the marker beacon antenna to the bottom. Soldered the coax cable to the copper tape. Cut foam to cover channel. Made templates for glass used in NACA channel. 2
Fri 6/9/00 7 Glassed both insides of the NACA scoop. Have quite the Rube Goldberg setup to hold the glass in place around all the corners. Microed the marker beacon cable in place and filled the trough with foam. 4
Sat 6/10/00 7 Sanded the previous layup. Made flox corners in the scoop. Rounded the edge of F-22, landing gear bulkheads, and firewall. Layed up two layers of UNI on the fuselage bottom. Added the 3 ply UNI reinforcements over the landing gear attach points and engine mount. Peel plied everything. 10
Sun 6/11/00 7 Made the canard cutout infront of F-28. Contoured the length of the right side. 2
Wed 6/14/00 7 Removed foam for the fuel site guage and made the 1/16" depression aft of F-22 on the right fuselage side. Patched some divets too. 1
Sat 6/17/00 7 Contoured the other side, made the other 1/16" depression, removed foam over the other fuel gauge, and finished patching divets. Built and installed the new fuselage supports that allow the fuselage to rotate. 5
Sun 6/18/00 7 Prepared the side for glassing and added a coat of slurry. Added 3 plies UNI on whole side, added 3 layer longeron reinforcement, added 3 UNI, 2 BID engine mount reinforcement. Peel plied. 9
Sat 6/24/00 7 Prep work so I can glass the other side. 1
Sun 6/25/00 7 Finished preparing the other fuselage side and added the three layers of UNI and all the local reinforcements. Peel plied everthing as appropriate. 8
Sun 5/1/05 7 Removed and shaped foam on right fuselage side around the spar cutout in compliance with clarifications in newsletter 78. 2
Fri 5/6/05 7 Removed foam from LWX and upper longeron on left side of fuselage. 1
