When doing a search, it'd be nice to be able to specify that the search is a "starts with" on a particular field.

This should speed up searchs as well as reduce the number of occurances.

For example, to find an author with a last name of "Jordan", I search on "Jordan", mark "Author", and "Start As".

I should only get Authors whose "Author" field starts with "Jordan", not one named "Smith, Jordan" etc.

I'll add your ideas for improving search to my TODO list. Thanks.

This feature was added to MyStuff2 1.2.

Appreciate that this function has been added, but is there any way to perform a search by looking for the text string anywhere within the record? I need to search for a particular string within a record, but it is often not at the start of the attribute. Not sure if there is a setting or a way that this can be done.

Thanks
Robert

Tap on the "Contains" button under the search field.

Thanks. I knew that there must have been a way to do that. Just an FYI, if I search in landscape, those options do not appear automatically, I had to rotate the screen to portrait to get them to appear. I suspect that you might have implemented in this way to save screen space, but for a new user like me, I just thought that it could not be done. I rarely use the software in portrait, so I missed that option.

Actually, the buttons not appearing on the iPad in landscape orientation is a bug in iOS 5.x. Apple has confirmed this with me. Hopefully they fix this in a future update to iOS.

This iOS bug has caused confusion for quite a few users of MyStuff2.

iOS 6.0 fixes the problem with the missing search scope buttons on an iPad in landscape orientation. Finally.
