The following are know issues with MyStuff2 as of version 1.3.2. If you know of any other issues please report them. Thanks.

All Devices:
  • If your list of items is sorted on certain types of attributes and you then change an item such that the item moves to a different part of the list (or is removed from the list due to a filter) then MyStuff2 may crash. Workaround: Avoid making changes to items while using a sort based on certain types of attributes. Unsafe sort types include those by lookup lists, dates, and times.
  • If you have a category filter that references a subcategory and you later delete the subcategory, MyStuff2 will crash anytime you try to view the filters for the category. Filters that reference a category, location, or action that is later deleted will appear incorrectly when viewing the filters. Workaround: You must copy the category with the bad filter, move any existing items in the original category to the new category, then delete the original category. Contact me if you need more detailed instructions.
  • Filters and conditional colors are not properly updated/deleted if a category, group, location, container, or action referenced by a condition is removed.
  • If you add a conditional color to a category and the conditional references a numeric attribute, MyStuff2 will crash if you attempt to create a copy of the category. Workaround: You must remove any conditional colors that reference numeric attributes such as Integer, Decimal, Count, Date, and Time.
  • If you attempt to delete a lookup list and you get notified that the lookup list is associated with 1 or more attributes then the wrong lookup list will be deleted if you choose to confirm the deletion. DO NOT try to delete any lookup lists that are associated with 1 or more attributes until this is fixed in the next update.
  • If you load an item with data from Amazon (via search or barcode scan) and 2 or more attributes in the item's category are required, the Save button on the Item screen will not be enabled even if the required values were supplied from Amazon. Workaround: Simply change any attribute value (and change it back as needed) and the Save button will become enabled.
  • If you export data from multiple categories you may see custom item attribute columns or action attribute columns appear in more categories than expected.
  • Trying to delete a file or folder from iCloud typically results in a "Cocoa error 4" message.
  • Actions can't be renamed.
  • It is currently possible to map a product attribute to a calculated attribute. This shouldn't be possible so please don't do so.
  • Calculated attributes are not filled in properly after scanning a barcode for a new item. Workaround: Change any value (and then put it back).
  • Categories and Locations may not sort correctly if renamed, even if auto-sorting is enabled. Workaround: Go to the Settings screen and turn off auto-sorting then turn it back on. This will resort values associated with the setting.
  • If you map an attribute based on a multi-select lookup list to a product attribute that can have multiple values (such as DVD Actor) then the resulting data may be garbled.
  • If you create a required attribute and then later change the attribute to a calculated attribute then you will not be able to save any new items in that category. Solution: Edit the category. Change the attribute's type from Calculated to Text. The Required property will appear. Turn it OFF. Change type back to Calculated. Save. You can now add items to the category.
  • Renaming a group, subgroup, container, or subcontainer can result in a crash.
  • Scanning a barcode into a Barcode type attribute may result in a crash.
  • If you import a CSV that was created by MyStuff2 and you choose to create a new category during the import process, the new category will have an attribute name 'item attachments' added. This should not be added. Workaround: Simply delete this extra attribute as you edit the new category.
  • Filter condition values and attribute autofill values are not displayed properly in certain cases. One example is a Decimal attribute setup to show percent values. If you setup a filter on this attribute then the value will not appear as a percent but a regular decimal value. This is a display issue only.

iPhone/iPod touch Only:
  • There is a small gap above the navigation bar on the barcode scanning screen.

iPad Only:
  • The best keyboard for Decimal attributes is not initially displayed.
  • Under just the right circumstances MyStuff2 can crash if you attempt to change the app's color scheme. So far I am unable to replicate those circumstances. If you encounter such a crash and can provide details about what was being displayed at the time of the crash, please let me know.
  • Under iOS 5.0.x, if you choose to export data to another iOS app, the menu to select the app does not appear. This will be fixed in the next update to MyStuff2.
  • The new search buttons for specifying the search scope do not appear when using MyStuff2 on an iPad in landscape orientation running iOS 5.0.x. This is a bug in iOS 5.0.x and not MyStuff2. I have submitted the problem to Apple. Workaround: Until Apple provides a fix for this issue, the only solution is to turn the iPad to the portrait orientation to specify the search scope.

Unbelievably awesome app by the way, thank you. I've been trying for years to create my comprehensive home inventory only to throw my arms up in frustration. This app has changed all that. In one afternoon I'm well on my way to having a comprehensive detailed, robust yet simple and straight forward to implement solution. If I could rate this a 100 I would. Great job.

So minor bug (?). When trying to change the theme color to "System" in setting the app exits and takes me out to the iPad desktop. It is still running but in the background. Going back into the app it remains at its original color scheme.

Suggestions:
1). Find a place for feedback and suggestions from within the app interface. :)
2). I'd like to be able to click a button and see statistics and report info like my Wine "Vinocella" app does (take a quick look at it if you want an example). I've got categories and groups and all the wonderfull classifications you ingeniously made available to me in this great app. But in the end there is no birds eye view of my asset worth or investments in various categories. Next major revision? :)
3). Lastly the upload to the cloud, I think I understand what's going on there in that you are uploading a single flat db file to the cloud. Before I go put this on our phones I'd like to know if I did and made a mod on both devices ... Which one will win or will they merge in the cloud data store? Kinda risky if they battle for last version.

P.S. iPad 2 on iOS 5.0.1

Thanks for the kind words and the feedback.

I will look into the crash caused by trying to change the color scheme. There must be a special set of circumstances that causes this because in general it works just fine. Give it another try while you have as little as possible showing in MyStuff2.

In response to your suggestions:
1) There is a link to contact me via email built into the app. Go to Tools then Contact Information.
2) May I suggest using the Item Summary report. While viewing a list of items, tap on the Summary icon to view a summary of the items displayed in the list. You can affect what is displayed in the summary by changing the Summary property of a category's attributes.
3) When you perform either a Backup Data or Export Data data transfer to iCloud, the saved file is stored within your iCloud account but is only accessible by MyStuff2. Whether on the same device or another (using the same iCloud account) if you perform another data transfer to the same location using the same filename then the new one will replace the existing one. Keep in mind that MyStuff2 does not use this file at all unless you choose to select it during a Restore Data or Import Data data transfer. MyStuff2 does not use iCloud to keep devices in sync. This is a feature I plan to add in the future. In other words, if you change data on both devices, no attempt is made at all to synchronize the data. If you wish to keep your data in sync across multiple devices then you must do so explicitly yourself. Please see the FAQ/Tutorial section of the MyStuff2 website for details:

With one exception all of these issues have been resolved with the release of MyStuff2 1.4.

The one exception is the issue with the search scope button on an iPad in landscape orientation running iOS 5.x. Apple has confirmed this is a bug in iOS. Hopefully they fix this in some future update to iOS.
