I'm having trouble mapping the date of a product. I am getting the right movie (from Amazon integration) but I have tried all permutations of the date (pub date, release date, different age formats for the date) and I can't seem to get it to give me a date. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks!

What date about the movie are you looking for?

Please keep in mind that there is no guarantee what data Amazon may or may not have for any given product. You may find that the desired date is provided for only a few movies or perhaps many but just not the one you've accessed.

What is the barcode of the movie? I can tell you what data Amazon has for it.

I can't get the dates for any of the movies i've entered. I mostly enter the title and search for it, because I just keep track of all the movies I've seen. Is there some sort of trick I'm missing?

What date are you trying to obtain for each movie? Release date? Some other?

Can you give me an example movie or two that isn't giving you the desired date?

I want the date the movie came out (preferably just the year). I tried A Chorus Line and Monty Python and the Holy Grail, for example.

The Amazon product attribute of ReleaseDate has a movie's release date as a full date. Setup your movie's release date attribute with a type of Date. Then go to the category's Product Mapping and assign the ReleaseDate product attribute to your category's release date attribute.

Now add your movies via Amazon search or barcode scan. I just did this for the movie 'A Chorus Line' and I got a release date of April 15, 2003.

Okay, but it doesn't have the original release date? Like, Chorus Line actually came out in 1985, and that was the date I wanted, when the movie was made. But Amazon doesn't have that..?

It appears that Amazon's release date is the date the DVD was released. You can see this if you go to amazon.com. It does not appear that Amazon has the movie's original release date.
