after short period [Delete color] button stopped working, it stays dim with no function - probably a bug, or I missed something?
And I submit the review on App Store.

Just to be sure - is it the Trash can icon that is dimmed or the red "Delete Color" confirmation button?

The trash can will be disabled (dimmed) if no color is selected or there are no colors in the palette. Tapping a color (giving it a blue border) should enable the trash can icon.

If you are seeing the red "Delete Color" button being dimmed and not working, I have never seen this. Can you please provide exact instructions to reproduce.

Thanks,
Rick

Hello,
red 'Delete color' button is dimmed, and I found why/when. If Wi-Fi is On, Delete button works fine, when it is Off, it is dimmed with no function. Strange, but now I can use it.

I found another slightly annoying thing. It is hard to rearrange colors in the palette. I can only drag color chip one place at a time (left, right, up or down). Similar to some puzzle game. I can't drag it to specific location, not in one step, but with many pushes and corrections of moves.

Please, do know, that this is the first app that I responded this way, If it were bad, I wouldn't bother.

Wow - I was just able reproduce the problem with the Delete button. Oops. I know why that is happening. I will get that fixed today. Thank you very much for the information on how to reproduce the problem.

Strange about your issue with dragging a color piece around. I am able to drag a color all over the screen and the other colors move around to make a hole. Try dragging the color more slowly. It may be you are moving it too fast. I'll admit that the dragging isn't as good as I would like. I will work on making this more efficient.

I really appreciate the feedback. It will help me make this application even better.

Thanks,
Rick

Excellent!
Yes, you are right, I was too fast with swatches, now I can do what I want. Thank you.

Sorry to bother you again with question. What do you think about perception of Greys?
For example: CMYK 0%, 80%, 0%, 80% here in Palettes is 11% grey. But Photoshop (so do I) percept this amount of color as 88% (let me say mixture 12% of white with 88% of black).
There's absolutelly no hurry, it's sunday, hope it is sunny day, Use it for yourself and family & this is too serious to deal with in one day.

PS: The Import palette from picture function is amazing. I have few 'color' books/guides, and I never, never use them, they are too far away, 3 meters away. This app will let me 'play' with colors anywhere, anytime.

Glad you can drag colors around now. Like I said, I'll see what I can do to improve the performance.

Gray scale. I think we are both right, just in reverse. Palettes treats 0% gray as black and 100% gray as white. So Palettes' idea of 11% gray would be your idea of 89% gray. I'll have to research a bit and decide which way to take this. Do I treat gray as a percentage of white (as I do now) or as a percentage of black (as you, and apparently Photoshop) do?

P.S. Glad you like the image import.

Enjoy,
Rick

I must agree this is an excellent app, unfortunately it's unusable until two issues are resolved.

1. The above mentioned "remove color swatch" doesn't work yet.

2. When adding color pallettes by choosing an image, this occasionally causes the program to crash and lose all added palletes up until the last time the program was started. One time it even stopped me from restarting the program and I had to reinstall it just to access the program again.

I hope I don't sound too negative because other than these two issues, this is an EXCELLENT designed and very useful program for anyone in art, graphic, web, home or fashion design. Well thought out!

1) This issue has been fixed and will be in the 1.1 update. The work around until the new version is available to ensure you have a WiFi or cell connection at the time you want to delete a color. Sorry about this bug.

2) I will look into the crashing issue and see if there is something I can do. But for sure I will save the current state more often so if a crash does occur there will be a lot less work lost.

Thank you very much for the information and kind words. Feedback like this will allow me to make Palettes even better.

Yes, I know, black or white, optical or may be even philosophical question. Which is NO color? In RGB and in fact in nature no color means black, that's true, in CMYK = print, no color is white. You and nature are obviously right. I assume many Photoshop users will use this app, so it may be very convenient to add preferences, where user could choose system for Grays, something like:
Perception of Grays • RGB • CMYK.

(In many years with Photoshop I didn't noticed til now, that in Grayscale mode when defining color in Color Picker there's no Gray definition (just HSB, RGB, Lab, CMYK and web). As if grey is not true color in a system, RGB or CMYK. And it's true, in fact it is only equal amount of all colors. But in real life usage - it is percentage of black on white in CMYK without CMY, that's PRINT with 1 color, usually black. This is only real usage of GRAYS I can think of. So Photoshop stays on this side in its Info palette when reading percentage of black. Not to mention why Black is in CMY(K) anyway - this is "bad" nature of print, on printing machines or home printers.)

I can't help myself, I constantly drag colors faster than app let me to.

My experience with ajaster 2): I must say that when I imported palette from picture, Palettes never crashed on my iTouch, I did it 20 or 30 times; it may be not enough to experience crash.

I beat you to it ;) I already implemented the gray scale issue as a preference so you can have it either way.

Thanks again for the thoughts.
